Mr. Mandracchia is a 29-year employee of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, currently as a Site Remediation Technical Specialist in the Department’s Publicly Funded Site Remediation Division. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Manhattan College and his Master’s Degree in Ecology from Northeastern University.
Mr. Mandracchia, an avid birder, has traveled to see birds on four continents and currently has amassed a Life List of well over 2000 species. This year his birding travels have included trips to Trinidad and Tobago, southern Louisiana and most recently Oaxaca, Mexico. He participates on New Jersey Christmas Bird Counts in Ocean County; and also, is a member of New Jersey Audubon’s Ocean County World Series of Birding Team.
Mr. Mandracchia has been leading birding trips in and around his home town of Jackson, NJ for 20 years and is currently an Associate Naturalist for New Jersey Audubon’s All Thinks Bird Program, assisting on New Jersey day trips throughout the year. In January 2015, he will be co-leading a Trip out to Duluth, Minnesota.
Mr. Mandracchia also does birding talks for local libraries, Scouting Groups, Schools and other organizations. At our upcoming meeting, Mr. Mandracchia will be speaking to us about winter birding both near and far.
